Red Daisy Gifts moved from their online storefront to a brick-and-mortar location in 2018, and joined the Chamber of Commerce on April 13 of 2018. A year later, they've moved in to an even bigger location at 310 S. Miller Avenue, near downtown Gillette. Their focus is on small local businesses that can find some shelf space away from the vendor shows.
"As we keep evolving, we keep trying to make this look more like a higher-end store. We don't want it to look like a craft fair," said co-owner Stephanie Bryce.
"The previous store was more separated in to vendor areas, this we wanted to feel more like one unified store," said Krissy Borcher, another co-owner.
"It shouldn't feel like you're going booth to booth," Bryce added.
The new store has retained most of its 50 vendors from the previous location, and there is still a waitlist to add more businesses. Bryce says the key to their success is finding the right mix of people with the right mindset. It's how they keep their turnover rate low and the quality of the products they offer high.
Both women still work full time at the coal mines, and the store operates with the help of the community. People who have product in Red Daisy are offered jobs running it so they can gain experience owning and operating a storefront.
"A lot of people have hopes and dreams but they don't know how to go from Point A to Point B," Bryce says. "We found a lot of local talent and brought them under one roof."
